Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a woman who's built her own business, I speak a bunch of modern languages, I'm a tour guide, and I'm the co-founder and CEO of Typical Colombia. Our mission is to create authentic, personalized travel experiences in Colombia, using the country's tangible and intangible cultural and natural heritage as our key ingredients.

I'll be sharing anecdotes from my travels across Colombia, stories from our international clients, and insights on sustainability, current events, animal protection, and Spanish learning. I'll be happy to answer any questions you send my way!

This blog is a place where we can all learn together, and it's also a way for me to contribute to making life better for everyone in Colombia.

My Life in Colombia

I was born in Bogotá in 1981, during a turbulent time marked by drug trafficking and guerrilla conflicts. I attended a private school in Bogotá, and by the time I was 19, I was determined to leave Colombia to seek opportunities abroad. I moved to France to study. But that's when I realized how much I missed home. I decided to return and seize the opportunity to work in tourism, an industry that boomed after 2007, thanks to the iconic campaign: Colombia: The only risk is wanting to stay.

How can I help you?

  • Would you like to to learn Spanish?

  • Are you planning to come to Colombia for study, work, invest or travel?

Wow... your blog looks great! I've been thinking about traveling to Colombia for a while, I imagine it has something for everyone! I have questions about what you'd suggest to do with 10 days or 2 weeks, how best to get a taste of Colombia and should I have any safety concerns?

Hi Shane! Thank you for your comment, I am so glad that you visit my blog and ask these questions. I'll suggest an example itinerary:

Bogotá, the capital 1 or 2 days Villa de Leyva at the rural sight close to Bogotá and on the way visit a salt mine: The Salt Cathedral 2 days Sangil and Barichara (adventure and colonial town) 2 days Santa Marta (The highest mountain in the world next to the sea, also there visit a coffee plantation) 3 days Cartagena (cultural heritage of Unesco city) 3 days San Andrés and Providencia islands 3 days.

Then it depends of the kind of activities you like to do, we can design a tailor made experience.

Remember that…
